I have collected Post Office Badges for 40 years and most people have no idea how many different varieties there are. The Post office issued some badges and badge salesmen visited Post Offices in the first half of the 20th century selling their wares to Postmasters. The gold filled presentation badge is a mystery. Why would the Postmaster General present such a fancy badge to a very small town Postmaster. If anyone has any information about this badge or Frank E. Thompson I would like to hear it.
Love these, The C.D. Warden is more in my wheel house but I like the 1936 Post Master best.
nice collection & The U.S. 15c Automobile 1912-1913 stamp
Very neat.
Nice post. I only have police and fire badges but they are a fun collectible. My favorite is a badge worn fighting the fire when the Hindenburg crashed in Lakehurst, NJ. All badges have a history, I wish they could talk sometimes.
