Carver chair

I found this chair at the local tip shop, the guy there said I could have it. I can't find any info apart from an old label under the seat. It says Hale Company - Arlington V.T. Manufacturers of Hale chairs.
It's in great condition apart from the seat. How old would it be and any other info would be greatly appreciated.
I have looked at hundreds of chairs to compare it with on the net but I can't find any with a small pad in the middle of the seat. I think I can remember my old school teacher having a similar chair and his padded seat was leather. I'd love to have it professionally restored.
