Darwin statue made by Marwal

I thought this was a lil weird and unusual. I got this around Christmas. Its a vintage, plaster statue marked as being made by the Art Marwal Industries Inc. This company was established in 1962 and was known for their plaster of Paris statuary, but from what I could tell in my research, ceased to make these by the end of the 1960s. As you can see, the image is of an ape holding a skull - he appears to be scratching his head in confusion, and is sitting on a pile of stacked books. The name "DARWIN" is inset into the plaster toward the bottom. Not sure what to list this as.
