Picked up this little guy today only because my husband said "It's so ugly. Who would want that?" So, of course I had to bring him home.
It was only when a search for a ceramic vase lead me to what seemed to be countless sites which somehow brought me to dj-reverb's post on CW. Had I not seen his post and done some quick research, our little critter "Homer", would have been thought to be some random ugly dust collector The Wife (me) just had to bring home. :)

Looks like a boll weevil.
blunderbuss2 you got my blood moving this morning! Not thinking (coffee is still brewing) I looked up "boll weevil" in google images and almost jumped out of my seat with a screen full of pics of the nasty lil bugger. lol :)
Actually Thomas, the only way I knew what a boll weevil looked like was from seeing that statue in Enterprise.
I went to aviation school 20 mi. from Enterprise, Thomas. Not much I didn't know about that area.
Thomas, I have a heart valve replacement. Really want to go flying with me ? LOL !!
