This is a rocker I got from my grandmothers house in West Pittston, Pa. In 2001. It's been used and stored since and the covers are shot.
I'd like to restore it and just noticed it has an original wicker back that had been covered.
Now I wonder what it looked like before the reupholstering. Are there any resources that could help is this piece when original?
I will offer one pearl of wisdom, STOP! DO NOT REMOVE ANYTHING! Oak Crafts Shops sold Stickley furniture up in that area. If this is a stickley you need to proceed very carefully and have it examined. Grandma may have been sitting on your nest egg keeping it warm. Depending on the year made, it could be branded (burned into the wood) or in later years his logo was either on a metal tag or paper tag attached to the item. A burned brand is normally but not always under one of the arms. The paper or metal tag normally on the underside.
Thank you for the advice. I'll look again for a brand under the arm
The paper tag looks like half is missing.
I'll look for a shop in St. Louis to look at it.
Did you ever decide to do anything with this rocker?
