What is the "style" or name of the chair I inherited from my late grandmother? I am wanted to reupholster it but don't even know where to start given I lack the adequate specifications of the style name/era etc. Thank you so much in advance!!!

As it sits now it is just an armchair. Not sure what the bad upholstery job on it right now covers. Looks like a lot of cat scratching.

Agreed. lol. As it sits right now, it's a very sentimental piece of history from my late grandmother that my two cats have annihilated. My father said both she and my grandfather bought this during the Great Depression and that it is a "Overstuffed high armrest and low back chair with Queen Anne legs." I realize I can have it professionally done but would prefer to restore it myself (via a DYI reupholstery tutorial) but am unable to do so until I can correctly identify the correct era/style name of the chair. Any ideas? Thank you for your feedback in advance!

It might possibly be called a wing back chair. There are many different styles to go through for you to try to match the one you have.

One site to maybe start at: https://dengarden.com/interior-design/AGuidetoAntiqueCHAIRIdentification

I have seen them in sets before lower back for the lady. Higher back for the gentleman.

Your chair also has the curved back legs as opposed to straight back legs this type of leg will also help you better to identify your chair.
