What are these cabinets and where do they originate? They each measure 36"h×8"w×7"d with shelves and hinged doors. The art designs seems to be hand carved, wood type is teak perhaps. Recently bought them at a local thrift store. Help!

I'm not sure if the origin of these cabinets are Mayan, Polynesian, or African. Is there any meaning to these carved figures or is this some mass produced conversation pieces?

I have no idea what they were used for but I tend to doubt they were mass produced. The reason I say that is because of the lack of craftsmanship where it applies to detail. The picture are somewhat blurry and not properly oriented for viewing. The wood shows unfinished saw marks and the hinges are poorly gained. That type thing would cause me to think it wasn't something mass produced. Even before modern tools the craftsmanship was finished in greater detail. Possibly made by an apprentice or home handyman?
