Family piece from mother's side with Pennsylvania Quaker lineage going back to 1800's if not earlier. Dresser is 23L x 43W x 47H. The family story is the dresser was in Chambersburg, PA in 1863 and needed to be moved due to the invasion of R.E. Lee and Army of Northern Virginia prior ro the ultimate battle in Gettsyburg. The dresser top has a full length crack said to be a result of being dropped during the frantic move to avoid the invading rebel army.
Classic American Empire dresser.
Dates from about the 1840s- 60s time period. Drawer view shows it was hand dovetailed.
Looks to be in great shape and well cared for. This type of furniture is not in vogue now, but it will surely make a comeback.
I am a huge fan of Empire and have several pieces!
