This measures about 8" long.
This type of item was very popular. Like brass shell casings that fired the rounds, the steel shrapnel littered the battlefields.
It epitomizes Trench Art-- pieces of deadly and terrifying artillery shrapnel turned into a useful item.
This one is a plain example, I have another with an intricately engraved blade that I will post later.

I have one of these, what are they worth? It is marked NAMUR 1914.
Post it here and I will give it a look.

Thanks hunter-- if you have time, check out the heavily engraved one that I have posted on CW.
