Posted this for tintyper.
Image shows Charles M. Myers who served for three years with the 110th NY Infantry.
On his tie he wears a miniature GAR Badge, similar to the type posted by tintyper. Additionally, Myers wears the GAR lapel pin. I have owned several images that, like this image, document the wear of these miniatures by veterans.
I have not seen one worn by a woman.
The 110th NY served most of its time in Louisiana and fought at Port Hudson and several smaller engagements. The Regiment lost close to 200 men due to disease, which sadly is typical of those units that served in the deep south.
Now I understand how these were worn.
