Newest find yesterday, can someone help me identify age and wood? Some history would be nice. Previous owner was gonna trash this.

Lets give it a shot. Can you tell how thick the back panel is and whether it is all once piece? Tapping or pushing it you can normally tell if it is thinner plywood or perhaps a heavier stock. Are there holes in the bottom of the legs where there might have been casters? I am not able to see the drawer joints clearly held at this angle but certainly dovetails. I enlarged the drawer image and I think there a what is known as locking dovetails both top and bottom. The drawer material is secondary wood ( called that because it isn't seen) and I believe it is half inch hard pine which is common. What I see of the joints shows over cut which happens when the joint is hand made as opposed to being machine cut. That could be original or it could be someone replaced the back panel of the drawer at some point. If all the drawers show over cut I would say hand made joints. Again I am unable to see the front or top clearly but would say the drawer fronts have a burl veneer, hard to tell from a picture. If I had to guess from pictures I would probably say it is pre war even though I have questions. It could well be earlier but I would be reluctant to say newer without knowing about the cuts on the other drawers etc. Sorry but I am working with one and a half eyes.
