I like these Welz ruffled mouth vases for their shape and for their solid colours. They bring a little calm to the vivid décors of Welz Art Deco glass. I'd had a blue and two pink ones for a while when I found a yellow and a pair of red ones.
Shortly afterwards I came across the orange pair which are the real subject of this post. The fact that they have a white trim is what drew me to them. The foot is different but I believe that these too are Welz.
Height 21 cm./8.25 inches
Great collection of these vases! I also have one with the white trim, it's quite a different look, isn't it?
Hi, IronLace, Indeed it is and objectively I prefer the dark trim, but the white scores on rarity. I hadn't remembered yours when I bought them, however I found them afterwards when doing a CW search. In fact it was Craig's comment on your post that identified them for me.
Our collecting interests overlap quite a bit!
Indeed, we do have quite similar tastes! :-)
These are great in solid colors. It is a classic Welz shape found in a variety of décors.
It may seem odd but I've never found this shape in a décor in the UK.
I was actually referring to the more flat footed examples, but not exclusively...... I should have clarified that.... :-)
Watched these first time around.... thought too long about them.... great show Peggy, love the pic.
Colour brings joy, and here it is.
I see what you mean now, Craig. However I too was referring to the disk footed shape when I said I'd never seen one in a décor in the UK.
Phil, I too watched them the first time around but was put off by the base being a different shape from those I had already. In the end I was won over by the uncommon trim.
Colour does bring joy, Karen. Look out for an image I'll be sending you shortly!
