Here are some Loetz lidded dishes. I'm sorry for any controversy that I may have perpetuated with the asertion that companies copy decors, supplies and sometimes shapes. In fact this Ausf -237 has been seen in a 3-ball footed piece designed by Bolek, cased closed....but wait! Didn't Kralik also do that exact shape?
The first piece may indeed be Loetz but it has an iridized cobalt foot and finial in the same way that a lot of Kralik pieces were done. I call it a "flash" iridescence; it creates a "carnival glass" luster, common to a lot of Iris pieces. Loetz did this finish on Ausf 237. The shape does appear to resemble some Ruckl or Kralik shapes, but I have no evidence of that. Ruckl has some similarities in decor as well like many of there confetti pieces are pinched-and swirled on the surface like some of these pieces are. If someone could find the shape in a Loetz book please post a link to it, thank you.

Thanx Craig, I'm finding more and more collectors are able to tolerate attributions moving from one maker to another based on comparison studies. Loetz has the most documentation so they (Loetz collectors) have a huge advantage. If only we could find the Kralik line drawings....
I agree Jericho, but I am just a strong advocate of leaving little wiggle room the change by using strict adherence to shapes being the same, and not similar. There are a multitude of examples of décors being similar, yet different houses, just as there are as many, or more examples of shapes being copied. Small shape differences, which some seem to ignore to their "benefit", are areas where mistakes are made and perpetuated....
I am working on a post to discuss such a shape and some issues with it.
My only position has always been that in changing attributions, or making them, that we owe others the courtesy of making sure we are not spreading unsupportable information. In the long run, that does much more harm than good, and it takes a long time to erase those mistakes, if they even can be.....
Think Powolny and Tango, Silberband and Kralik, and on and on.
I totally agree with making attributions ca stick for years. In the case of Powolny I think it was made based on a simple shade of Orange tango, so at least we are taking more things into consideration. Also remember how many Iridized pieces are bogusly signed Loetz for profit? I love the wiggle room buddy and look for shape comparisons soon

No.4 with its slim shape, black finial and joints, and that beautiful and restrained decor is just sublime.
Thank you for noticing and appreciating, it's a solid blue opaque tango base with floating pink, white, lavender and green- to create an opal effect of s different type

Lisa, I'm not sure that that cameo is a match I would have them at the same eye level, It's probably a loetz.
Yeah, the "overbite" closure looks good but the foot looks more angular and the top looks slightly taller (smaller finial?)
