Antique religious embosser

Very heavy and possibly old stamp or imprinter I'm just guessing but it was obviously to emboss these images into something. Obvious guess would be coins but perhaps little wafers for communion or even stamping paper or other documents i don't know. But there are the letters ihs on one image which research has lead me to believe are the initials for the Greek version of the name Jesus. I also see what spears to be a sacred heart symbol and a kamv with a cross.

I would guess that this is half or less of a larger device. The whole seems to be right for a hinge of some kind and there is some very modest wear inside.

Any idea as to what this is would be greatly appreciated.
