Can anyone help identify this tool?!

Apologies the photos have uploaded upside down but I can't find anyway to correct this. I picked this up at a market as I was intrigued but can't figure out what it is. It is approx. 25cm long, the large ball is solid and very heavy, and clearly used as a balance or weight for the arm of the piece. The whole piece is may 10kg?

It looks like it should be screwed onto a workbrench and also has a greasing leaver. The point is a very sharp so I wonder if this is some sort of punch. There could be some components missing.

    Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
    Sarah

Difficult to tell from the photos but I think this is an old diamond polishing/cutting machine.

Thank you so much Onedtent, you are absolutely right! It has been driving me mad. Sadly it is missing the cutting wheel so I can't put it to active use but I will clean and polish it up and it will make a beautiful sculpture.

Do some research - I have a feeling that the cutting wheel is just a copper disc onto which water/paraffin (kerosene) and diamond dust is dripped.

I could be wrong - happy to be corrected on this.

I think the sharp point is a depth stop by the way.
