My husband & I purchased an old church last year, that we currently live in. The seats for the congregation are still upstairs. They are iron & wood. There's 108 & they sit on a slanted floor. As far as we know, & what we were told, is that they are as old as the church, which was built in 1856. They are similiar to movie theater seats because the seats flip up & have wire baskets, for a bibles underneath.
Later, after I get my husband to climb the tower, I will also post pics of the bell. It is also the original.
We probably won't be able to do anything with the upstairs for years, but someday we might have to get rid of most or all of the seats, so we justed wanted to know more about them. Plus it's just fascinating!
We always say we're going to get a projection screen & have friends over to watch movies up there for now :)
These look almost exactly like the ones my mother purchased from an old Fox theatre years ago. They had the rounded backs. These are gorgeous!
Thank you! That's wonderful! Do you know how old the theater was that they came from? What does she use them for now?
