    Found this piece at an antique shop today. I never came across one before. It seems to have the woman's name, NY address , and pat'd/84 etched into the back. Tough to read around the bottom part where the date is though

      Sule Makerm or something like that for the name????

      Trying rubbing some Baby powder Talc ( or any Talc ) over the letters to highlight them and take another pic....Thanks

      Ya the name is tough but i agree with you that it's Makerm, as for the first name no idea lol, the last line it looks like pat'd / 84 to me

      I love this!! I'm fascinated with mourning items from the Victorian period. In fact, I even have a few mourning top hats in my collection.
