Hello Again, and Happy Spring!
I bought this at an estate sale this afternoon. The house was amazing, this was in a glass cabinet with a lot of antique English transfer ware.
When I first saw it I thought that the painting depicted a civil war soldier, on closer inspection I recognized the fishing gear, including the rod and fly in his hand.
The only marks on the back are a star, and the number 10. Entirely hand painted, and nicely done, with an economy of strokes. Unsigned on the front, unfortunately.
I was hoping that someone might be able to identify the origin,
( European, American ? ), or the maker based on the obscure mark.
Looks, loves, and comments always warmly welcomed.
Thank You, Tony.
I was just looking at this and now am leaning towards a European origin, maybe German? or English?
Maybe Mintons. They did use symbols & ciphers. A star in 1935.
Thank You for the looks and loves, mike, aura, and SpiritBear, all very much appreciated!
