      Gee so pretty..ParianWear?
Parian ware is a type of bisque porcelain imitating marble. It was developed around 1845 by the Staffordshire pottery manufacturer Mintons, and named after Paros, the Greek island renowned for its fine-textured, white Parian marble, used since antiquity for sculpture. It was also contemporaneously referred to as Statuary Porcelain by Copeland. Parian was essentially designed to imitate carved marble, with the great advantage that it could be prepared in a liquid form and cast in a mold, enabling mass production. Take a look on Google search.

Pretty amazing. I love the fire in the fireplace and the bear skin rug. Great detail. Anyone recognise the blue underglaze mark? N? And what looks like a diamond shape over it?
    7. Celiene Celiene, 8 years ago
Capodimonte had the N Crown mark for their Neapolitan period.

Could it possibly be Meissen biscuit ware??
    9. Celiene Celiene, 8 years ago
      No - it's not Meissen.
    10. Mrstyndall Mrstyndall, 8 years ago
Yeah, I had wondered if it might be Capodimonte also with that N. I think that could have been a crown above it, but the ink has smeared together over time??
    11. Celiene Celiene, 8 years ago
The ink would have smeared at the time. WAIT - there is a signature on it. On the back, left hand side towards the middle. It starts with Sel (I think). Look down from the sitting woman's elbow.
    12. Mrstyndall Mrstyndall, 8 years ago
Celiene, I thought so too and asked but she said she didn't think it was.
    13. Mrstyndall Mrstyndall, 8 years ago
But the pic sure makes it look like there is
    14. Celiene Celiene, 8 years ago
Totally looks like a signature to me!
    15. Mrstyndall Mrstyndall, 8 years ago
I know, it looks like Selio or Sefio or something. Maybe she didn't see it since it's not over where the other markings are?
    16. eliz1959 eliz1959, 8 years ago
I see what you all are talking about. It's not here with me I will have to go look at it again
