Another find from the local r.c
For £1. This art glass vase in cobalt blue colour.
By Saeed Golkar.
An Iranian artist that has had exhibitions all over Europe over the years ..
This is a strange shape which reminds me of the film "Triffids"...
It's 11"h x 3 1/4" across the base ..
It has the artists signature on the base along with a sticker of
"ANVARI & CO"
Manufacturer & importer
England.
Thanks for looking ;-)
Thankyou to GILLIAN for the link which says the pattern is known as jack -in-the-pulpit. !!
And welzebub for the link saying also known as a Persian sprinkler,
Allow me to say I don't think so.Iranian art of glass is much more older and it could rather be an inspiration for 19 century artists.Look at this Sasanian piece of glass

Iran is one of the oldest glass producing areas in the world and have developed their skills over millenia. It's a gorgeous thing to own, and so representative.
Thankyou racer4four for your love and kind comments..
I've never seen, heard or even thought about Iranian glass til i found this one!!
:-)
Although commonly referred to as a Jack In the Pulpit, the form is also a "Persian Sprinker", giving some insight as to the true age and origins of the form.
