This Victorian glass vase was a flea market find last weekend. It is made from two layers of cased glass, a peachblow type shaded pink, over a custard interior, which contains uranium & glows brightly under UV light. Even in daylight, the greenish tone is quite distinct. The vase measures 19 cm tall, 6.5 cm across the crimped top rim, & 6 cm across the base, which has a polished pontil mark. There is a mark on the base I. No 13.
It has a satin finish, is deeply ribbed, & features raised enamel decoration of cherry blossom type flowers & a butterfly. The crimped top is an interesting shape that I've not encountered before. Thanks to inky for pointing out that this is an early Loetz piece!
