We found what seems to be an oil can back in 1990. It has the name "Lightning Lighter" embossed on the top rim. It is 2 pieces, the can or vessel and the syringe for drawing out liquid, we think oil.
The bottom is imprinted with "Patent Applied For". Has anyone come accross on of these? I am trying to find out its specific use and approx year it may have been made.
Looks to be all Brass.
I have come across the exact same Lighting Lighter as you have with Patent Applied For on the bottom. I was told that it was to light a wood stove back in the 30's. Not quite sure if that is correct or not. If you have come up with anything please let me know. I am looking to sell this one so it might help to truely know what it is used for and the time period it if from. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you.
I have one also, Iwas told it was to light fireploace. Your estimate of 1930's is about right in my opinion. A GUESS on price would be $40.00 again, only my opinion.
