This is from a viatage AZO postcard probably from a candid photo, the light was wrong so we lost most of the features on the doll, but in the real photo, it is better than I can get it with my cheapo camera. Still, to me, it just is charming! Babe is in a long "gown" or coat. with tiny pattern on the front porch. I cropped the photo thinking I'd get better detail--but not much, if any!
BIG china head doll! isn't it, in civil was coat.
China doll is called a Flat top . China dolls are mainly dated by hairdo and named for hairdo :-) These dolls hairdo's followed the trend of the ladies of the day . She dates 1860's-70's and it one of the most common china dolls found in today's market . The low Brow China is the most often found so yours comes in 2nd :-) Not sure if they made more of these or they were more popular coming out of war and girls were finally getting presents again ? Neat photo love love
Here is my flat top pictured with a hard to find covered wagon doll . She is in 2nd photo laying next to covered wagon doll .

This is the sweetest little baby ever!!Thanks so much for the link. This doll seems too bag for the baby who does have a good hold on it though--so cute.-- I love the little baby fingers grabbing on!!Look at her impish, delighted little face. I would love to be bouncing that baby on my lap right this minute!!
How much financial risk are the parents taking in the day to give the baby a big china doll like that. Were they only like a dollar or something?
Thanks to those who love this!
