    not sure if it was for railroad or highway use.
    its about 2' wide. the lens are all amber colored.
    no light fixture inside
    it has a place for a post on top.
    made of heavy cast iron.

      I would lean towards railroad.

      I would lean more towards "traffic" -- I think warning lights like this would have been installed at the ends of obstacles between lanes of traffic ('safety islands' for pedestrians, bridge abutments, or whatever) probably holding a signpost reading 'keep to the right' or similar.
