Picked this up at a thrift store and thought it was super cool but I can't find any information on it. If Anyone knows anything Please share. Not sure if it's Clay or ceramic. Thanks in advance and thanks for looking
Clay is what you make ceramics or pottery with, so this glazed pottery figurine certainly was clay at one time. From the marks underneath that were made when the clay was still soft, you can tell that it was hand decorated.( see facial features). The difference between pottery and ceramics is the quality of the materials used and the treatments given to the clay during the manufacturing. Colours are added before items are fired/ glazed. There is a lot of good info. on-line to read up about ceramics and pottery. I don't recognize the inscribed marks but I like your figurine. Bob
Thanks so much, Bob!! I'll do some more research on the web. I'm hoping to find out the artist...have a great day!!
