I really like amber. When I find an interesting piece that is well priced, I usually snap it up. This brooch interested me because of the back. The pin is rather different from what I have seen before. There is a small ring attached with the silver mark.
I checked on line and found one piece like mine without any information at all, and there was a second one stating that it was dating to the 1920's. I am not sure. To me, my piece doesn't look that old.
The last photo is only meant to show the size.

Interesting attachment, I'm wondering if the ring is for a chain so you can use the brooch also for a pendant.
Peasejean55, thanks for your comment. It is possible, but I don't think that the style would look nice as a pendant. I was thinking that there might have been a safety chain attached or that the ring was meant to hold the pin mechanism in place. In any case, as you said, it is an interesting attachment:)
Hi freiheit, I agree with you that your brooch wouldn't look good as a pendant it was just a thought. I have never seen this type of ring for a safety chain before. As you say it's a interesting attachment.
