"I AM ASHAMED OF THE YAKIMA EAGLE" a obscure button from the Vietnam era that now commands a fair dollar (most the time found this one for $2) 1 1/4 diameter.
In 1970 the Yakimia Eagle was right-wing weekly paper founded by millionaire Kwik-Lok inventor Floyd Paxton. best known for his very conservative political views. During the 1960s he was national president of the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. He made four unsuccessful runs for Congress, The Yakima Eagle, which did not attract a subscriber base and soon folded. Paxton and his wife, Grace, had a running battle with the Internal Revenue Service over a family trust set up to avoid taxation, resulting in years of litigation and appeals with the IRS—with the Paxtons ultimately losing. An underground student newspaper for teenagers "TEEN SCENE" in Yakima filed a $1 million restraint of trade suit against the John Birch Society official who owns the ''Yakima Eagle", charges in the suit that Floyd Paxton "or his agents" used "verbal or written threats" against advertisers in Jackson's magazine, They cited the youth magazine as advocating "FREE LOVE" and being of a "pornographic" nature in attempts to persuade businessmen not to advertise in the publication."
