    I'm not sure what this is used for. The outer case is detailed leather and the inside has an oval mirror with an image in it. A couple of these were found at my grandpa's house when he passed away.

      This is an old photograph in a wood case. It was typical of the 1840s- 1860s.

      Your photograph appears to be a daguerreotype-- hard to tell from your photographs. It should have silver mirror surface where the image seems to disappear when canted.

      Based on the mat style, I would say yours is from the early 1850s.

      Value is based on subject matter, condition and size.
