      Basically called a hall chair.

      The style is 17th century during the William & Mary style if not classified as a William & Mary because it seems close to what is called a "Boston" which was made 1700-1725. The types of wood used in construction and hands on inspection is important to evaluation/authentication. A very nice chair!
