This is an 188os cabinet card that shows a Civil War veteran in his GAR uniform coat. The coat has large domed buttons (probably "GAR", but not visible). One his collar he has the GAR lapel pin. Additionally, he has his GAR badge-- the "star" drop attached to his watch chain, and the eagle top pinned to his vest (see photo #3 and #4).
His pair of crutches are against the photographer's column. I am not sure if he was War wounded or if he was injured around the time of this photograph.
The image is cut short, so his feet are not completely visible.
Photographed by Reid of Harvard, Ill.
Stylish man, crutches are too.
Thanks again racer!
