WWII Canadian Winnipeg Grenadiers Helmet

Canadian WWII helmet to the Winnipeg Grenadiers. The helmet is 1942 dated and has a nice red decal to the Winnipeg Grenadiers.

The regiment fought at the Battle of Hong Kong in December 1941 where it was practically destroyed. The regiment was reconstituted on January 10th, 1942 and served in Canada in a home defence role. The regiment took part in an expedition to Kiska, Alaska from period from August 16th, 1943 to December 22nd, 1943. On May 25th, 1944 the Regiment embarked for Great Britain. On November 1st, 1944 it was absorbed by the 3rd Canadian Infantry Training Battalion, CASF, and designated as the 3rd Canadian Infantry Training Battalion, Type "A" (Winnipeg Grenadiers), CASF. On July 5th, 1945 it was converted and redesignated the No. 10 Canadian Repatriation Depot, Type "T". The depot was disbanded on January 28th, 1946.

Overall the decal is in good condition with just a few chips, and I although I mainly collect uniforms and headgear to the Scottish regiments, this helmet was offered to me and I had to add it to my collection. The red decal really stands out on the helmet and I think this is a really nice find.
