New pics and info.
So far no one has commented and I'm no closer to solving this mystery. It looks southwestern but it really seems recently made.
It measures 14" x 2 3/4". It has a grass foundation but is very stiff. The top finished row is braided in a way I have never seen on a southwestern basket but I'm in the northwest and don't get to see a lot of them. Also on the back there is a stitch exposed in a way that makes me think it is there to be used to hang the basket on the wall (see pic 2). I've never noticed that before in old southwestern baskets.
I found it prominently displayed in a thrift store, dirt cheap, and in pristine condition.
Looks southwestern like Apache, Pima, or? Looks so fresh so pristine. Can it be authentic? Awfully well made for a fake.
