This is one of the several Firex fire grenades we found when we purchased our century old home in Central Illinois. Made in St. Louis MO, they are full of a chemical called Carban Tetrachloride and from what I have researched, somewhat dangerous. Each is labeled and mounted in a fitting that makes it possible to break the bottle. The bottles are glass and the phrase "Throw at the base of flames" is printed on each. I'd love to learn more about these things so I am very open to more information! (especially because I have read some unsettling information regarding the chemical) Thanks!
We just took one of these a month ago from my Grandparents' basement that was mounted next to their furnace hoping it might be worth something. We already have someone who collects fire fighter memorabilia interested in buying it from us but of course he wants us to state a selling price. We don't want to "give" it away so to speak so were wondering if you have researched them far enough to have found an estimate of what one might be worth?
