It's been in the family for 100 years, I remember it working a nice chime sound, very delicate. Can't find the key to wind, can't find a name. To the left of the bell it is stamped "288". I think it is made of black marble with decorative motifs at the base and around the front bezel. The clocks hands seem unique and one hand has what could be a logo? on it.
It measures 9.75 inches wide measuring from the front feet, it is 5.75 inches deep and about 9.25 inches tall. On each side not shown in the pictures small lion heads are mounted with a handle or ring on each.
Most interesting to me is that on the back side closure which opens to expose some of the mechanics of it someone has scratched in a date 9/6/17 and next to that a dollar amount $250.00. That was quite a bit of money back in 1917.
I'm hoping someone can tell me something about this clock, the maker etc. Thanks in advance for any help with this research.
It's French.
If you undo the nut on the bell & remove the bell you will very likely see some information on the back of the movement such as the maker's name or logo.
