Advertising thermometer from THE STEEL CITY NATIONAL BANK of Chicago, "Your Friendly Neighborhood National Bank". Based on the phone number format I'd guess it dates from the 1940's-50's. Made of stamped steel and mounted in a simple aluminum swivel bracket with nifty hardware. Measures about 8" long and 2.5" wide.

Had a chance just now to run the street address thru Google Maps. Streetview indeed shows a quite handsome bank building still existing at that corner, though its original (more like 1920's?) stonework facade is engraved UNION STATE BANK, and there's now an illuminated plastic sign with a "mb" logo hanging off the corner of the building, apparently their current name/logo.
