We found this covered dish today at our favourite country antique store and because of the unusual shape, I had to buy it and show it to our Czech-Glass loving members. It has heavy tight spatter underneath radiating to large elongated spatter along the side. The lid that is shaped like a clown's hat has the same but reverse spatter dripping downwards. There are no back-stamps or markings and it measures 7 1/2" tall by 4 3/4" wide (rim). It has an unusual corset-shaped body......all in all, a very Carousel looking form. Not sure who made but it has a lot of age wear underneath. Any information appreciated. BOB
When I saw this I immediately thought of a clown's hat and then read your description - crazy shape, I love it!
Great find..love the colours and the shape is wonderful....:-)
Great Minds think alike Phil! Thank you for the comments and love. Thank you inky...yes, the shape is quite unusual. Thank you welzebub, vetraio50, aura and artfoot for the love. RER(BOB)
Such a fun piece of Tango glass - it looks so festive & cheerful. I have three vases in various shapes in this same decor on the yellow - orange ground.
A stand-out piece......super find!
Thank you sklo42 and IronLace for the comments and loves. Bob
I noticed that there is another of the same form on eBay at the moment.
Top and bottom spatter: what's not to like?
Thanks vetraio50! I couldn't find it because it was listed in the UK listings but Peggy sent me a link. I see that this one has the Czechoslovakia semi-circular mark and they identify it as Welz. Should I mark mine as WELZ also? Bob
Your piece is by Kralik. The Welz identification of that piece on ebay UK is incorrect.
Thanks welzebub! ....Kralik it is! BOB
My pleasure.
wonderlful
