A Hadeland Vase by Willy Johansson

This vase appeared on the cover illustration of Scandinavian Design, Objects of a Life Style by Eileene Harrison Beer published in 1975. The book was the first that I'd found on Scandinavian Design when I came across it in the 1980's. It was very directive in my early collecting of Scandinavian arts and crafts.
Norway's Hadeland glassworks were founded about 250 years ago. Johansson's father worked for Hadeland and Willy joined the firm in 1937. In 1954 he won a Diplome d'Honneur in Milan and followed this up with gold and silver medals at subsequent Triennales.
I wish I had a pair of these vases!
