I just picked this up at a yard sale yesterday. It has an old FOX .35 engine in it which I am quite familiar with, but have never seen this model before. Anybody out there know what this model was called, who designed it, if it was from plans or a kit??? This model has a wingspan of approx. 60" which is one of the largest control line aircraft I have ever seen in person. I would speculate that this model was from the mid-late 60's from the sellers age and her story about her deceased father flying it when she was a young child.
Thanks very much in advance for any information you may have regarding this model.
MYSTERY SOLVED! This model is made from a set of 1958 plans by Hall of Famer Charles Mackey. It is called the GOBBLEWANTZ and Bob Randall won the 1958 Nationals with one. It was designed to fly on .35 up to .50 powerplants.
