This weekend I did a drive-by during a town-wide garage sale in Central New Jersey. This painting caught my eye so I pulled over to check it out. It was only a few dollars for what appears to be an oil painting on canvas in a beautiful gold frame. The image is wonderful, it grabbed me right away. Upon further inspection, in good light, I noticed a signature in a very dull red at the bottom left. It appears to be: MUSITANO.
Search results led me to an artist by the name of Papini Musitano. I can only find two other paintings by the artist, one of a fencer:

Another charming piece with 2 ducks.

Wondering if anyone else notices a similar style or has any other opinions. I would love to be able to identify the artist. Thanks, enjoy!!!
thanks for the loves vetraio, aura, and roddy
They captured something in this work.
blunder, what did they capture? I was studying the painting last night, and I think it is really great. I love the contrast between the fine detail of the man's face and the simple flowing lines that make up his clothing.

thanks postcardcollector!
radegunder thanks for the loves.
Nice painting. I would search for examples of antique jugs of similar form. Looks like red clay which could be a clue to country (Italy?) and region.
