    Greeting Fellow Collectors,
Here is a “toy” from around the 1930’s that probably wouldn’t make the cut in this day and time. It was a “firecracker cannon” manufactured by the Kilgore Company. This company apparently specialized in toys that had cannon themes. I was able to find several different style cannons that operated on the same theory. A firecracker was loaded into a hole at the base of the barrel with the fuse out. A ball of some type was dropped into the barrel. I have seen rubber balls and wooden balls but no steel ones, which was probably a good thing. The fuse was lit, and the firecracker would go off, sending the ball flying! There were no warning labels of any type on this toy. I guess kids back then were more capable of operating this type toy without injuring themselves or others. I often wonder “what happened?”, from back then till now. There is no way this would make it today without being closed down by the lawyers. I was thinking that this was the type of toy that blunderbuss2 would have had in his toy box even though it was before his time, so I post this one in honor of him. He still likes playing with cannons as far as I know! Thanks for stopping by and looking. Thrifty

There is something in the y chromosome that makes us like loud noises.

Little early for a monument. I'm not dead yet, - - unless you know something I don't! A little before my time but I can associate with it . Surprised I haven't seen 1 though. Coehorn mortar that.

Not even sure the name "Kilgore" would fly today, Ah the good old days toy guns explosives hospital visits and no law suits

      Hey blunderbuss2,
I wasn't trying to give you a premature send off, but I do think this is an appropiate "blunderbuss2 item!" I hope you will be around for a long, long time because it would not be the same around here without you! I did post this with you in mind! Talk to you later, Thrifty

      Hey PoliticalPinbacks,
It is amazing what we did as kids in the 60's and 70's. I remember almost putting an eye out, fractured bones, skins and bruises, etc., and never once blaming anyone or anything for what happened! We were RESPONSIBLE for our own actions. I wonder where it all changed! Now days we don't have to blame ourselves for anything. It is someone else fault! I did not mean to get out my soap box, but it is hard not to these days! Talk to you later, Thrifty

Thrifty. I found the secret to immortality is finding out where you are going to die. Then, just don't go there !
