Just inherited a house full of antiques. Trying to identify this piece. Only had time to snap a couple of pictures. Will have more time to investigate on our next trip there. Looks a lot like a Maddox Tables secretary except for top molding and finial and there are 3 drawers inside bookcase. Thanks for any help you can give us on this first piece we try to identify.

I have one like this. Of interest of this design, Al Capone had one like this in his jail cell when he was in prison. You can find the picture online. Nice piece.

Here's a couple of links to the same(?) secretary/desk as yours. The last one an old post at CW.

Want to check the links - be right back.

I think I've made a mistake. Any way I don't think you have anything to worry about re: your top molding, or finial. If you do a google image search for 'Maddox tables secretary desk" you will find quite a few.

Let me know if this matches with yours. There also on CW - an old post, but the same piece as yours - I'll go find it.

Yup - I'm really messing this post up - I'm sorry about that. I thought I had lost the first post I made - but I found it in cyberspace.

So, it's my first post that has the link to the desk at CW. In my 3rd post there's another link to another one like yours.

Phew! It's dangerous to have so many tabs open that all say the same thing.
