Porcelain jar or ice bucket, Italy

This was passed along to me when my great aunt passed. Not sure where/how she came to have it. Know absolutely nothing of it's history. Markings underneath look primitive; have not been able to come up with anything even close in my searches. Best I can describe it is it looks more like an ice bucket than anything else I can think of. Could be a cookie jar except maybe not with the gargoyles/demon handles - usually you don't want to terrify the children. Or maybe you do.
