This is an authentic 1950's WESTINGHOUSE luminaire, (streetlight fixture) commonly referred to as "gumball" style due to the shape of its refractor. (lens) Though it now illuminates my patio and carport, it first served along a street in a small Nevada town. The refractor is made of thick glass, approx. 12" across and 9" deep, and is mounted in a frame so it can be unlatched and swung open to service the bulb inside. Though the luminaire would have originally contained a giant several-hundred-watt incandescent bulb with a 'mogul base', it has been retrofitted with a standard socket and currently has a 100w (equivalent) LED bulb inside. The bracket arm the fixture is now mounted on is also not original, it having started its life much more recently holding a satellite TV dish.
