It's a low-quality lithograph circa the '20s to '40s. When I saw it, I thought that it was 1940s. Certainly pre-1960, based on the mounting hardware in the frame.

It's based off a painting by Giovanni, which was the pseudonym for Josef Untersberger, a Catholic Austrian artist.

I've never picked up a representation of Jesus before, but decent, vintage Christian art can't just sit around in thrift stores waiting to be tossed out!

Another one up on some selling site has To Mother May 1945 penciled in on the back, which adds to my evidence supporting my initial impression of 1940s.

Okay looks like he's trying to decide when to come back. JK
    2. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
He looks kind of sad, and the little lamb looks offended at the big sheep being in his face! LOL.
    3. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
I would be sad if I was coming back too, Yeah the little lamb does look at bit like... Mommmm it's Jesus give me a break.
    4. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
On the contrary, He can be happy that soon (only the time before and during the tribulation, plus the millennial kingdom) everything will finally become good again. LOL.

Ahh 1000 year break from Rap music how peaceful
    6. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
I mostly listen to Metal and Hymns (I know, they're so closely related-- actually, in one case they are; see link below. LOL), but there is some good rap out there. I only listen to one Rap/Hip Hop band, which is Beacon Light.
Warning, turn your speakers down. This hymn gets powerful.

Okay VERY 1st time I listened to a whole Metal song... give me sec... whewww like the lyrics LOL many Metal tunes are like that like for me the singing? (Mom taught me not to say anything unless it's nice LOL) I AM glad I took the advice to turn it down ;p
For me this one fits a lil better, May want to turn it up LOL

My mom tells me the same. LOL.
I've never liked the Beatles, I'm afraid. That song mostly repeated the same lyrics over and over, which is something I never liked in lots of music.

Mothers know best ;p well okay rarely but.
I like there Music mainly from there later years, I used to like the early stuff and even got mad at them when they grew long hair, I got over that when mine hit my shoulders LOL
True it follows the old style of repeat rinse & repeat
Don't give up on the classics yet lol maybe this one with no lyrics, a Robin Trower cover by a then 13 year old, This kid kicks ass and chews bubble gum

How coincidental...this Sunday's Gospel reading in The Catholic Mass was about Christ, the Good Shepherd.....
    11. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
Political Pinbacks, LOL, the guitar is almost as big as he. Still do I prefer metal. :P

      Ted_Straub, a good coincidence!

I bought someone's1!st Holy Communication Framed Certificate with a beautiful old litho (big one) of Children , Angels and Jesus looking very like this FOR the same reason--I would NOT let it be trashed. I hung it about 4 feet from the head of my bed and it is the first thing I see in the morning. I am not Catholic... But I am a believer. The info of the little girl, the date and the Church are under the pictured part. I contacted that church with the name and date and offered it to the Priest on board NOW.. No reply. So I guess it was meant for me. I put it on CW months ago and maybe 1 or 2 looked at the beautiful item in the old frame.

They're abundant, as everyone got one. LOL.
In an 1870s Bible, I found many Catholic (later, Methodist) items from a family.
      I'm not Catholic. I'm non-denominational Christian.
    14. PostCardCollector PostCardCollector, 8 years ago
So am I--Non Denominational Christian with Metaphysical leanings.(That's pretty obvious by now.)
I imagine you are correct. All Catholics got one--but were they all this nice I wonder? And in my long lifetime--this is the only one I have ever seen.
    15. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
Most were just engravings of one form or another, not usually well-executed lithographs (gotta be cheap, of course.) LOL.
I seem them around in antique stores.
    16. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
That is a big guitar for a kid (collectors item too a fender strat now worth 20k)
So still a metal head ... sigh ;p
I was a Catholic until they excommunicated me as my wife was married and had it annulled (all the kneeling standing sitting repeat was getting old anyhow) I'm now a non-denominational Christian.
    17. SpiritBear, 8 years ago
      Political Pinbacks, that's harsh.
I used to listen to contemporary, then rock, then I needed something harder. Sometimes Metal is too soft. LOL.
I'm concerned what my parent will think, and what my Church will think, when I begin dragging my partner (also a former Catholic, albeit no longer religious) to Church with me. LOL.
    18. PoliticalPinbacks PoliticalPinbacks, 8 years ago
Harsh was Catechism those nuns and there 1/2 thick yard sticks hit hard LOL
Careful with your history of blowing things up anything harder then metal could be hazardous to your health,
Hope they all accept him and the fact.

Political Pinbacks, I don't blast my speakers except when in the car. LOL.

      Sean68, thank you.
