I would love any help with determining location/time period of this piece.

The antique store I bought it from said it was an old Chinese empire type of chair.

All of it seems to be mortise and tenon , no nails/screws.

I really love the hand carved Chain-link wood on the arms.

Thank you for any help you can provide

    Steve

Made in the style, but classical Chinese chairs look less heavy, I.e., the wood here is thicker than it would be in an authentic piece. There should also be no glue used in construction.

(Incidentally, the Chinese didn't use chairs like these as dining chairs, so if it were authentic, if you put it up to your standard height dining table it wouldn't be expected to be proportionate. If it does work (seat height, etc) then chances are the chair was made for our contemporary interiors.)
