I've been meaning to put this brooch on CW for a while, but I kept forgetting, seeing I've just posted my Victorian necklace I thought it would be a good idea to post this also today.
I think this brooch is Victorian, as it as a C clasp and the hinge is typical Victorian. The brooch is in the shape of a star which was a favourite symbol of the Victorians. I've tried to show the colours of these blue moonstones but unfortunately the photos haven't done these stones justice. As you can see the stones are cabochon and set with claws, the back is open which lets in the light. The metal has no marks but it tests for silver.
Many thanks for looking
Moonstone and silver in a star, what a great combination, love it!
Hi bijoucaillouvintage, thanks for your comment, I've seen quite a few of these brooches recently it must have been a very popular piece back in the day. I don't know if you could get them beautiful Moonstones in modern jewellery and if so it would cost you.
Awww! I love it!!!
Thank you kyra.
