I found this sweet Arts & Crafts period mirror for $10 at a garage sale yesterday. It's small, only 10 inches across. The front piece is all one piece, including the egg dart (?) decoration close to the mirror. The size of the 'beads' change slightly. I can find NO seam, except what looks like one in the darts on the left side.
Front piece is hammered on to the piece with a small lip. Slight scratches in the mirror if you hold it at an angle. One slight loss of mirror material under the bevel. Just a small spot.
Heavily (and clumsily) soldered hangers on back. Hang on a nail, or add a string and hang on the string. WHY would they have two options? You still need to hang it on a nail, no?
Dose anyone have any idea at all who may have made it? Could it be Roycroft? Or something that can't be identified. I did find it in California SF Bay Area. Thanks for looking!
Is that honeycomb pattern specific to anyone / any art house in particular?
Any ideas anyone?
