    I think that this is from India. the base is broken in two places and i think that whoever was riding in the howdah got off somewhere, but i still like this kind of thing!

      I always thought that's called a 'howdah' on the elephant's back. Are there places in Asia where the term 'rickshaw' is used instead for this type of carrier on an elephant?
