This is plaster on wood, and a frame within a frame. The inset is so original with its carved design, that I have been unable to find anything like it online.
I took it to a frame shop to make sure it's not a reproduction. Nope. It's the real deal. I got it at auction for only $10.
Sadly, at some point in the process of putting it in my car (or taking it out), a top corner piece of the decorative plaster broke off and disappeared. So the frame is no longer fully intact. I keep beating myself up over it. I should've been more careful.
I'm thinking early 1900s?
It is huge: 30.5" x 46" on the outside. Inset: 23" x 39" at widest.
