This is a blue and white cockatoo with a clear applied pedestal. The bird is done in milky colors. It looks like a Murano. The pontil is polished. I don't often see Murano glass in milky colors, but that might be because I am never looking in that direction. This bird just caught my eye. I have seen Japanese birds with this kind of coloring, so am wondering. Any thoughts?
Your bird has a large crown on his head and a tail with somewhat of a downward bend. Check images of a cockatoo.
Thank you fhrjr2, will do.
I don't think it's Japanese, Tahiti. I like it heaps though!
You were correct fhrjr2, thank you!
Tahiti1 - I only breed parrots but I am familiar with other species and this one struck me as a Cockatoo. Probably a female signaling a male, NOT NOW, I HAVE A HEADACHE! They will fold their tail downward as a signal.
Lol, thanks for the explanation fhrjr2.
I suspect it is Imported from China.
Google Murano Glass Parrot (that is what the internet calls them). Yours does not have the fine hand blown detail and lines as Murano glass. And don't forget, Murano glass is only glass that is made on the island of Murano. There are many pieces Made in Italy and lots of labels and ads will use the word Murano, but unless it says MADE IN MURANO, then it is not Murano. China made "Murano Style" is very frequently used, but they will also advertise it as Murano.
P.S. some of the most collectible Murano glass is opaque colors. Google -Seguso Alabastro.
